PRESS RELEASE - 04/01/10 - Association of Financial Mutuals, Outlines its Objectives for 2010

The Association of Financial Mutuals is the trade body that represents mutual insurers, friendly societies and other financial mutuals in the UK.

We launch on 1 January 2010, following a merger of the Association of Mutual Insurers  and the Association of Friendly Societies.  At our launch, we will have 57 member companies, who between them manage the savings and protection needs of 12 million members, and have assets under management of £80 billion.

For more information about our 57 members and our 29 Associate members, as well as details of our Board of Directors click here.

Over the next few weeks we will introduce more and more content about the work of financial mutuals to this website.  In the meantime, you can find out more about who we are and what we do via the websites of the Association of Mutual Insurers  and the Association of Friendly Societies.

A financial mutual is an organisation that supplies financial services products, and which is owned by its customers, or members.  As a result a financial mutual has no shareholders to pay dividends to or account to, and can concentrate on delivering products and services that meet the needs of its customers.
